opbouwThe programme consists of a theoretical learning path (100 EC), as well as learning paths in research skills and academic and professional skills (80 EC).
The theoretical learning path combines three subdomains, Brain and Cognition, Development and Psychopathology, and Behaviour and Environment.
You'll develop a curious, critical, systematic and independent working attitude by mastering research, academic, and professional skills.

1e jaar In the first year, you'll take introductory classes in each of our three domains that highlight the diversity of Psychology as an academic field: Behaviour & Environment, Development & Mental Health, and Brain & Cognition. As a first-year student, you'll have your own teacher-mentor who will help you to settle in at Radboud University. First-year classes are compulsory; however, you're free to choose the subjects of your essay in Academic Skills and of your Research Practical 1.

How does the brain work and what role does it play in our behaviour?
In this domain you will learn about the anatomy of the brain. You will study language, learning, memory, perception, and emotions. You will also focus on disorders such as strokes and dementia.
specialisatie Development & Mental Health
What developmental changes do humans go through during the course of their life, from infancy to old age?
In this domain you will study the cognitive, motor, moral, and social-emotional development of humans. You will learn how our social context (family, school, work, culture) influences our wellbeing and you will practice how to recognise and treat psychological disorders in children, adults, and the elderly.

How do groups and (sub)cultures influence our thoughts, emotions, and our behaviour?
This domain will teach you all you need to know about interpersonal relationships, group behaviour, stereotypes, and prosocial and antisocial behaviour. You will study the ways in which humans interact with each other and how they influence each other, for example, in families, at the sports club, or at work.

You'll learn to study human behaviour; their thoughts, feelings, and actions. At Radboud University, you'll do so from cognitive, developmental, and socio-psychological perspectives. By carrying out a research project in every study year, you'll learn to develop intervention strategies to, for instance, counter unwanted or unhealthy behaviour. A semester abroad perfectly fits into the third year of the Bachelor's programme of Psychology. If you obtain all of the 120 ECTS of the first two years in time, you will be allowed to write your Bachelor's thesis in the first semester of the third year and go abroad in the second semester.bindend studieadvies

At the end of the year, you will receive either a positive or a negative Binding Study Advice (BSA). A positive BSA is required in order to advance to the second year. In order to receive a positive BSA, you will need to obtain a minimum of 42 course credits (ECs) out of 60. Failure to meet this requirement will result in a negative BSA, which means having to discontinue your studies at Radboud University. Moreover, you will not be able to enrol in the study programme for the next three years.

Na de studie
After obtaining a Bachelor's diploma in Psychology, most students apply for a Master's programme in Psychology. The Master's programme at Radboud University is a one-year programme that, after completion, results in the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology. At Radboud University, you can apply for the following three specialisations:
- Healthcare Psychology (only available in Dutch)
- Work, Organisation and Health
- Behavioural Change
These specialisations have both an academic and practical focus and are designed to train you for a specific professional field and job profile. Half of each of the three specialisation programmes consists of theoretical subjects and skills training while the other half is comprised of an internship and a Master's thesis.
Aside from the three one-year Psychology Master's specialisations, you can choose to apply for one of the following English-taught Research Master's programmes, which are open to talented students who wish to pursue a career in research:
